Simplistic Big IP DNS setup (GeoIP, no LTM involved)

Hi,

 

looking into the forum still not 100% sure, so:

 

I am looking for some guidance on the following:

 

2 Big IP DNS - To be configured for GeoIP based DNS response

 

3 application servers (single IP address, no loadbalancer) 3 locations worldwide

 

There will be an Wide IP configured listening to the specific URL and based on the origin of the request it will either answer one of three application server IP addresses.

 

Just struggling with configuration of datacenters and servers. Application will be configured as generic host, but do I need to create multiple datacenters or pools?

    Hi,

     

    You will have 2 DC:

     

    • one in Europe
    • one in America

    Regarding server, if you have an F5 (LTM) in euro or many you have to create this servers in Europe. once created there will be VS autodiscover that will be displayed and can be used on Europe DC.

     

    It's the same for America.

     

    Just keep in mind that server will be your LTM (that can be hosted in DNS/GTM), you have to create server even if it is standby.
