Session persistence for Siebel web server load balancing

Hi,

 

We are using BIG-IP F5 for load balancing Siebel 8's web servers. Siebel recommended that session persistence should be enabled.

 

What are the specific options that should be used to enable session persistence for this scenario?

    If it's just port 80/443 traffic then cookie persistence should work fine, so long as BIG-IP is doing the SSL offload. If you are passing through 443 all the way to the servers, then you will be restricted to using source_addr persistence. The built-in profiles for either should most likely do the trick (I haven't directly dealt with Siebel servers so if there's something funky about them then you may need to look further into the profile settings which are documented in the manual).
