Servers hosted externally

Hi,

Our servers are hosted externally and we will like to put a web accelerator in our company. With the servers externally located, can we accelerate those web servers?

Thanks,

Rex

    Hi Rex,

I use this setup every time to present WA capabilities. You just have to configure a route on WA to give it a path to join external server and use SNAT Automap feature on Virtual Server. This feature is similar as source NAT : request to original web server are sent with IP address of WA to ensure response will be processed by WA engine to provide acceleration feature (IBR, Multiconnect, Dynamic Caching, ...).

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

  • Hi Nicolas,

Should my WA be located before or after the firewall? Because right now my WA is located after the firewall and configure my default route to the IP address of my firewall.

Sorry I'm new to LTM and WA.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Rex,

In my opinion, I would place it behind the firewall, because you atleast want to protect your WA.

I agree but be careful to no overload firewall because it will see traffic twice : request client -> WA, request WA -> server, response server -> WA and response WA -> client.
