Send to Pool depending on Username

We have a web server and database per customer. We want to have a single webpage that the users log into, and depending on username it sends them to a particular pool.

Is this possible with just LTM? can I host the page on the F5 or do I need a separate webserver in front of the F5? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks

  • Hi ra3ac,

It is certainly possible to choose a particular pool based on username using LTM only assuming the username is somehow visible to the BIG-IP. e.g. if the username is stored in a cookie or HTTP header. Having said that you will need some mechanism to prompt the user for the username and I'm assuming that you'd also want to actually authenticate the user as well? I'd suggest you instead look at the BIG-IP Access Policy Manager (APM) as this will provide you the ability to authenticate the user as well choose a particular pool based on the username (and host the login webpage on the BIG-IP itself).
