rSeries 4600 additional Core Enable
- For a deployed Tenant what’s the procedure to resize the CPU allocation so for a 2nd tenant CPU can be re-assigned.
- My understanding for rSeries 4600 there are 16 Core available but 4 core is Disabled and can be enabled buying additional license. is it correct ?
- Is it possible we can use temporary license to activate disabled core and get the permanent license later ?
- how can I enable 4 disabled core along with acquired license.

Hi f5Subrun,
The r4x00 devices have a 16-core processor.
r4600 - 12 CPUs available for Tenancy
r4800 - 16 CPUs available for TenancyIf you use a temporary or permanent r4800 license, 4 more CPUs will become automatically available. When a new license is assigned, there will be an interruption in the current tenant due to services restarts. You can use these 4 CPUs when creating a new tenant.
If the temporary license period expires, the license does not revert to the previous permanent license. Traffic does not pass through tenants. Therefore, you must enter the permanent license before the period expires.
If you want to revert back to the r4600 license, you must first configure the total number of CPUs used in the tenants to 12 and then enter the license.

Specific to r4600 , 4 CPU is disabled right ? and can activate using 4 upon license activation so we can have total 16 Core ?
refer to below link i think it is possible
The r4600 model has 16 CPUs (The 4000 platform does not utilize hyperthreading/vCPUs). No CPUs are dedicated to the F5OS platform layer which is different from the mid-range and high-end rSeries appliances. In the r4600 12 CPUs are available to be assigned to tenants and 4 are disabled via licensing. The 4600 supports a maximum of two tenants. The diagram below depicts the r4600 vCPU allocation:
Hi,
4 CPUs are disabled in r4600 license. When you activate r4800 license, 4 CPUs will automatically become available. And a total of 16 CPUs become available.
