Rewrite Profile - Server URI to backend pool possible?

I'm looking to try rewrite profiles (vs. complex existing iRules) to perform some relatively basic RP/URI translation work, but my desire is to reference an existing F5 pool for the Server URI that may have one to many members. Is this possible? The examples I see appear to only reference a specific endpoint including scheme host, etc...
