Removing geo-ip database

Hi,

I have updated my geo-ip database and want to remove the old database. Can I delete the database files using the winscp or should I use the cli mode to delete them? Please suggest me.

Thanks,

Sekhar

  • After finishing an update, delete the portable archive files you uploaded to F5 box. Use WinSCP or Linux rm program - both will get the job done ;). When issuing the

    geoip_update_data
command, you are overwriting the old database used by the system and no additional CLI commands are required to get rid of old carbage.

Just make sure you leave the files "F5GeoIP.dat F5GeoIPISP.dat F5GeoIPOrg.dat F5GeoIPRegion2.dat F5GeoIPv6.dat" in "/shared/GeoIP" folder untouched - these files are required for your GeoIP to function.

    Hi Hannes,

I logged into f5 using winscp and I could still see the old database files(.rpm) in /shared/tmp. Can I remove these old database files?

    Thanks, Sekhar
