Apr 09, 2009Redundancy / Self-ip
I have a pair of F5 BIG-IP 4.x Link Controllers; they are setup as Active/Standby. I have the need to break apart the redundancy so they can run independent of each other. The reason I am doing this so I can introduce a new F5 Link Controller 9.x, we cannot upgrade the existing LC to 9.x.
I keep getting stuck on how to do this in regards to the Self-IP / floating Self-IP,
example:
F5-LC-A
Interface 1, IP: 10.10.10.1, Floating Self-Ip: 10.10.10.20
Interface 2 , IP: 20.20.20.1, Floating Self-Ip: 20.20.20.20
F5-LC-B
Interface 1 , IP: 10.10.10.2, Floating Self-Ip: 10.10.10.20
Interface 2 , IP: 20.20.20.2, Floating Self-Ip: 20.20.20.20
I will need to retain the Self-IP address on F5-LC-A due to routing, source ip address security, etc.
I assume I can just make the Self-IP non-floating.
Also when I introduce the new LC to replace the existing F5-LC-B I will need to create Self-IPs for the Vlans.
If anybody has any thoughts would be great….Thanks ….
