Nov 25, 2008Redirection iRules?
I am new to the BigIP's, so bear with me.
I have a variety of virtual servers setup on my BigIP's. I am looking to do a few things with 2 of the sites:
One site is https://a.site.com. Terminating SSL on the F5, and back to farm as HTTP. Also using an HTTPCLASS_SSLREDIRECT for this site:
Redirect to: https://[HTTP::host][HTTP::uri] to force user browser to SSL.
The other site is http://b.site.com. HTTP all the way thru for the main site. But, the developers want to have select pages (folders) as SSL.
Things I am looking to do:
1. Redirect https://a.site.com/Media -> https://b.site.com/Web - This "Web" site will have a login.aspx page that needs to be SSL. Can I terminate SSL on the F5 for b.site.com, but only use it for this folder or page? Or do I just keep it http and use IIS to secure select pages of the site? Also, can i redirect at the page level on the F5?
2. Which leads into this question. If I do use IIS to secure these pages, how does the F5 react being it is passing along only HTTP? Will the client see HTTPS for these pages, etc....
Again, I'm new to BigIP's, and this web infrastructure in general. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
