Recommended Configuration on a 1500 for mirroring

I am looking at mirroring some persistance and virtual servers. Our 1500 has several available interfaces. Does it make sense to use a cross over cable and setup a private VLAN to do the mirroring?

If I use a crossover cable would I hard strap the interfaces to 1000Full? Would it be better to connect through a switch.

I think the better is way is to use failover VLAN. This VLAN should be a private VLAN different from all other "traffic" VLAN on separate physical interfaces. If it possible I recommend you to use a cross over cable directly connected to both unit and configure your ports in auto-negotiation for Gigabit Ethernet.
