Re-direct based on an external file.
I have a pool (my-pool) with 2 members 10.10.10.10 and 10.10.10.11.
I also have an external file (my-file) in the format "RESULT" := "X",
X is either 1 or 2 where 1 relates to 10.10.10.10 and 2 to 10.10.10.11.
I've got scripts to allow the external file to be updated indirectly without giving access to the F5 device, so the value can be changed dynamically.
I want to direct anyone accessing fred.co.uk to be directed to the member identified in the external file, so if result is 1 then 10.10.10.10 and if its 2 10.10.10.11.
The problem is if the content of the result file changes I still want the original connection to be maintained. I've tried various ways but seem to have run into a dead end, any ideas.
Thanks

I think F5 never published documentation showing what pieces of the configuration exist only once, and which pieces get versioned, with previous versions staying in memory and continue to be applied to appropriate connections. I have not seen that solution doc before, and it just confirms my feeling with words such as "might" "some" "most"....
If your boss says I don't want anything to break then you say we are not making any changes. Make changes only in declared outage window, where breaking is expected by end users. BIGIP is built in such a way that most of the time no breaking happens, but there is no published document to help you ascertain what change could affect what connections. IMHO.
