question on floating IP

have a query on the SELF IP?

I have 2 loadbalancers in Active Standby Setup And I have a SELF IP for the servers of the Loadbalancer added as a route on the backhandservers .

Now the question is do I need to also have floating Ip configured on the active loadbalancers for the failover or if I configure another SELF IP on then standby device and add the route on the backhandservers .Please suggest

  • I Thanks Bhattman

so if i understand i need one floating Ip and and non floating Ip confgured on the Active device

and for the SYNC to work i need to create another non floating IP on th standby device

    right

  • Well you would create a floating IP on both active/standby along with the self IP of each. This way when the failover happens it carries over.

For the Config sync it's a separate functionality where you can use the self ips. So the float is really used for layer 3 and/or failover functionality.

  • Right now i have One self IP configrued as Local on the Active LB and another one configured a Floating When i do a config sync am getting error

Sync Summary StatusSync Failed SummaryA validation error occurred while syncing to a remote device Details Sync error on: Load failed from nladmll003. 01070355:3: Self IP 84.xx.xx.xx is declared as a floating address but there is no non-floating address defined for this network Recommended action: Review the error message and determine corrective action on the device
