Mar 02, 2009PVA not available when pool "action on service down: reselect"
Device LTM6800
I was wondering if anyone could possibly shed some light on the above , we have several Virtual servers configured with the FastL4 protocol Profile , whereby we have PVA set to Full,
However due to configuring the option "action on service down: reselect" all pva acceleration is disabled ?
Why does this occur ?
when changing the option from reselect to none , the pva toggles from none to assisted , what impact does having the action on service down have when set to none compared to reselect ?
i cant find any detailed documentation on the topic on F5 website ...
can anyone help ?
Thanks

Hi Ian,
I'd suggest opening a case with F5 Support on this. SOL4832 (Click here) lists many of the cases where the PVA mode would be demoted. I don't see pool member reselect mentioned though. Hopefully Support will be able to determine whether the behavior you're seeing is expected.

Hi Aaron
Actually thanks for your article , i looked at the links to our version on that SOL page and it does specify that
https://support.f5.com/etc/medialib/kb/pdfs.Par.41437.File.dat/sol4832_922_931_Feb2009.pdf
Action on Pool members Down
reselect : none
None: Full
However , trying to find a explanation on why seems will be far more difficult. - Deb_Allen_18Historic F5 AccountWell, my guess would be that if you want the reselection to happen, that means the flow needs to traverse the proxy so the request is still avail when reselection is required. Hence no PVA is possible for these flows.
