proxying Websphere cluster

Just wondering if someone can provide me some pointers on a design I'm attempting to get working.

 

 

I have a Websphere cluster that will be initiating 443 requests to a foreign Websphere cluster. I want to use our LTM's to SSL offload the traffic.

 

 

I have everything working when clients access test servlets off of the cluster directly (via LTM) but this won't help when the actual appservers are initiating the connections to the outside systems.

 

 

I suppose that the easiest route would be to make the LTM the gateway of the WAS nodes, but this would require network redesign that I want to avoid. Is there some way inside of WAS to have the appserver directly hit an LTM acting as a proxy that anyone knows of?
