Hi,
I am new to SAP environment. As per the sap-f5 deployment guide, there is no persistence profiles configured for SAP ECC components. Is there any specific reason for this?

Hi Siddiqu,
Thanks for the great question. For any ERP Central Components (ECC) persistence profiles are optional but definitely supported. You can follow the instructions on creating cookie persistence, and an optional fall-back IP address based persistence, from the Portal section of the deployment guide (Section: creating persistence profiles), and apply it to the ECC instance you are configuring.
In the deployment guide, we start the ECC section by saying:
From the deployment guide:
"In this section, we configure the BIG-IP LTM system for directing traffic to one of the SAP application components called SAP ERP Central
Component (ECC). As mentioned in the introduction, there are a large number of SAP application components available. This Deployment Guide
covers the SAP ECC as an example component application. If you have other component applications, such as SAP Exchange Infrastructure, or Business Warehouse, repeat this entire section for each one, replacing names, IP addresses and ports as applicable"
Specifically because we can not know which ECC instance you are using, we can not recommend any one persistence method in the deployment guide. However, if you know that you would like cookie persistence, it is fully supported. If you are not sure which type of persistence to use for your particular scenario, please post more information on what module you are working with and either my team or someone else from the SAP community can assist you in finding the correct persistence method.
I hope this helps.
