May 19, 2006Sorry bradhscherer, that was my post. I soon became over-loaded after that post... Its been a crazy week. What I had in mind was much like your example. There are a lot of questions that are not really support questions per say but more generalized architecture, idea type "stuff".
I would think most of the LTM admins are much like myself where we are the only responsible party of this device. There really isnt anyway to grow in our abilities without having some means of brain sharing with our peers. I have a test lab but there are many scenarios that I wish I had someone to brain storm with. For example, you cant call support and say "hey I have the compression and caching feature installed what would you recommend or do in situation x". Actually you could but they will give you the contact info for their $500 an hr professional services group.
I understand F5 has to make money off of support contracts and they may fear loosing out if the forum takes off like the iRule forum. So, why not require a support contract to be able to see or join the forum. Ask F5 serves its purpose but theres no compare to a Forum of highly qualified and experienced peers. I have learned a lot just be reading the post as they come across this forum.
Have a great weekend! Im off to Mexico!
