Oct 26, 2010Passive LTM assymetric routing issue
Hi,
New to the F5 world but recently found an issue with our passive LTM. The set up is a simple and consists of two data centres each hosting an F5 LTM, one active and one passive.
I've found an issue with the passive LTM in that it has a default route which points to the same device and data centre as the active LTM. Ther firewall are blocking the traffic from the passive LTM due to an assymetric routing issue as the passive LTM sends traffic one way while the servers send the traffic back to the passive LTM another way.
The solution to me seems pretty simple, just add more specific routes on the passive LTM to send the traffic the correct route.
My question is does the LTM work in the same way as a cisco router in terms of more specific routes having preference over less specific routes and I presume the routing configuration isn't sychronised between passive and active LTM's.
Also any potential with this.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
