one health check on two situations

We use HTTP health monitor to check that status of the pool. Once the receive string is 500. Then the pool member will be disabled. I know that disable will keep the active connection but not allowed new connection. However, we have two situations. One is keep active connection even the pool member is being marked down. Another is remove all existing connection. How can I set the F5 to accomplish it ?

Thanks, Derrick

  • A failing health monitor does not disable a pool member, it rather marks it down. And the F5 will stop sending connections to a marked down member, this differs from a disabled member (but marked up) which can still be sent active and persistent connections.

  • Amine thanks for your reply. I tested that the active connections still go to the monitor disabled node. how can i stop and remove all active and persistent connections while health monitor mark down pool member?

Could you share your testing procedure. As far as I know, F5 stops sending requests to a failing node except the health monitoring probes.
