Nov 06, 2008One-Arm LB with SiteMinder and x-forwarded-for
Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone has implemented the LTM in an one-arm with Apache Reverse Proxy, Sun Web (iPlanet) 6.1, and SiteMinder 6.0.
The issue is the ability for the SiteMinder web-agent to capture the original IP address, so it in turn can write it to the SiteMinder Policy logs. I know about x-forwarded-for header insertion, but that writes to the web-log and the web-agent captures the remote client IP (in this case the LTM). To my knowledge, there is now way to configure the web-agent to include x-forwarded-for headers.
There is a module for Apache (http://www.openinfo.co.uk/apache/index.html) and I believe that is does rewrite the remote IP to the x-fowarded-for value, which might work for the web-agent. Has anyone tried this?
Is there something similar or a work around for Sun Web (iPlanet)? I just need some way for the SiteMinder agents to capture this information. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
