CirrocumulusI think the easy answer to this, is to make sure you're using NFSv4... That's designed to be 'firewall friendly', and only uses port tcp/2049. No separate portmap, or mountd required.
If you're not using NFSv4, I'd say it's not going to be very easy... (If you're not, you're missing mountd already). if you are using NFSv4, then you have too many ports already, and need to start doing some tcpdumps and working out exactly where it's failing.
