New to iControl - Enable/Disable virtual service via Webpage

Hi,

I am new to iControl and was wondering if it was at all possible to create a secure webpage that:

Has a user login

Shows the status of a virtual service at all times

A button to enable/disable the service if a certain event occurs

I have had a look around the forums and codeshare and have only been able to find examples involving a maintenance page. I have not seen anything for webpages that a user can interact with.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

  • You could, but you might be reinventing the wheel. Have you considered giving out Operator access instead?

  • No I haven't to be honest. My company seems to want a webpage. So an unskilled user can just log in and see a big button they can turn on or off. Are there other easier options?
  • If you give people Operator access, they will be able to check the status of pool members, and take them up or down. They won't be able to add or delete any configurations, or view the SSL certificates/keys. It only takes a few minutes to show someone this or document the process, vs. the time needed to program and deploy a server that will have less functionality than the web GUI F5 provides. For our environment at least, Operator access works well.

I would also ask whether a custom health monitor might work better than a human operator.
