Jan 14, 2009Monitor next hop on each link
I have two configured links. Each link goes to a separate router, and each router goes to a different ISP.
How can I have the F5 do a check on the next hop outside of my network (1st hop at the ISP) to verify the links are functioning?

You need to use a transparent monitor configured with the destination IP of that next hop. Then apply that to the pool members in your gateway pool.

You can use what we call a transparent monitor for that.

So I configured a node specific health monitor for the link I want to check. It is configured as a transparent monitor as suggested. When applied to the node, the node properties window shows no health monitors listed in the top general area, even though at the bottom I have selected this monitor. Any thoughts?
Seems kind of strange to me that this is not something that can be done on the link level.
