Apr 20, 2010Monitor F5 device itself
Curious if any one knows how to monitor the F5 device itself? For example, if a hard drive within the F5 device has failed or if there is a bad memory chip inside of the F5 device or any other errors related to the device itself.
I tried searching, however, all the searches seem to come back with results related to monitoring the health of virtual servers/pools/nodes.
Thanks!

Hi,
LTM logs system related events like this to syslog facility local0. (/var/log/ltm). You could configure LTM to send emails, syslog messages or SNMP traps based on these events. The network and system management guide on AskF5.com should have details for your version.

Well, what I do is using alertd and observe ltm/messages log and find events that You are interested. Not very comfortable method but it works to certain point. mazek - appz_guy_5833
