Sep 16, 2010Mirroring to standby and iRule node/pool ability
Hi
I am unsure of a couple of aspects to do with iRules
- Are data group values mirrored to the standby?
- Are global variables/arrays mirrored to the standby?
- Are session sub-tables created in irules mirrored to the standby? [looks like yes, but just verifying]
- Can iRules add/remove and set ratios to node/pool members? [i think no, and need icontrol or external script]
Thanks
Anthony

Hi
No reply to my question yet, can someone verify the following answers that I have come up with myself?
- Are data group values mirrored to the standby that are modified directly by irules?
No. Would need to "sync config" to be mirrored.
- Are global variables/arrays mirrored to the standby?
No.
- Are session sub-tables created in irules mirrored to the standby?
Yes.
- Can iRules add/remove and set ratios to node/pool members?
No, this would require icontrol or external script. [Script would also need to 'sync' config? to have standby running same nodes/ratios]

Hi Anthony,
These are all correct responses to your questions.
To Further add to your last question
- Can iRules add/remove and set ratios to node/pool members?
There are 2 directories where the configsync will pick up files (http://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/8000/500/sol8522.html). Otherwise you have to manually copy the External Scripts to the standby LTM.
