Migration from NGINX to F5

Hi guys,

I have a customer who wants to move away from NGINX to F5 LTM.

Firstly are you aware of any scripts which help migrating configuration from NGINX ( load balancing module ) to F5? ( similar like we have for Ace to F5 )

Also do you have some experience with migrating between NGINX to F5 and could share your thoughts?

Appreciate your input,

Michal

  • havent seen one being posted. how large is the config? might not be worth the effort to create a script.

We have been advised to do exactly the opposite thing; not that we are actually going to do it, but I am curious about your reason for the switch from NGINX to F5 LTM.

  • Client has 5 devices with around 300 VIPs on each one, so there is quite a bit to migrate with tight timelines, so manual is probably not a good idea. The reason why client goes to F5 is because he is interested in using VIPRION solution for consolidation and visualization reasons. Also they are interested in features for optimizing HTTP etc

Unfortunately I sill don't have source configs but looking at the NGINX documentation, their feature set for load balancing is quite limited.
