Jun 30, 2008Migrated from 540 series BigIP to 1500 series BigIP
Hi All,
Having a slight issue migrating from a 540 BigIP to a 1500 BigIP. We are migrating all of our environments in a production environment. Here's the steps and problems we are facing:
1. Setup a copy of the 540 config on the 1500 device with a temporary VIP IP
2. Remove the vip/pool/monitor configs from the 540 device
3. Change the VIP IP to the production IP on the 1500.
This has been working with 95% of our migrations... but we've been having some issues. Some of our productions we move off of the 540, but the tcpdump is still showing the ARP requests being sent to the old 540 device even after all configs are removed.
To try and troubleshoot this already, we've tried clearing ARP cache on all upstream rotuers as well as both the new and old BigIP.
Can anyone shed some ideas on this?
540 BigIP Version: BIG-IP Kernel 4.2PTF-09 Build34
1500 BigIP Version: BIG-IP 9.3.1 Build 37.1
Thanks.
- Deb_Allen_18Historic F5 AccountARP requests are broadcasts, and would be seen by all hosts. Is it responding to ARP requests with a MAC address as if it owns the VS address?

It seems that way.
