migrate configuration data to other bigip GTM version

Hello every body! we will buy new bigip GTM versions and we already had two old bigip with configured data in them, we will migrate the data to the new versioner.Jag had read that one can use the GUI to perform backup and restore of data and I wonder if one can use this technique to migrate data as well, or are there other design methodologies? thank you for regard.

  • If you make sure both systems are running the same version then doing a backup/restore should work fine. Depending on your versions there may be other options as well.

One way of doing it I can think of is to use the same (old) version on your new devices, make a backup of the old device, and load that backup on the new device; and you can then upgrade the new device to the lastest version.

But the devil is in the detail, of course, i.e. whether the upgrade will be successful depends on what your configuration is like, and the compatibility of your conf across versions.
