Apr 27, 2010MCPD Logging on 10.0.1
Well hello!
So logging on 10.0.1 build 342, it's awesome, well...
I am tuning logging on the box to see if we can get more useful output from a Postfix based alerting system I Grep'd through the error map and found that using a debug level of logging for the MCPD I would be able to get information about the pool name for a pool member when it reported as down. This was much better for our alerting system on the environment (Lots of pool members with various IP's on one server, lots of Virtual servers).
However when I change the logging level from notice to debug, nothing seems to get logged to the local traffic logs, and we thought the system was stable, nope just no logs. As soon as I switch it back, then it is fine and dandy and logging resumes. I am assuming that debug should just generate a more verbose output.
Thanks in advance.
Sorry had to edit quickly, also do you know if there is a way of creating a custom SNMP trap or alert definition that will include the pool member and node it is associated to / pool it is associated to.
Thanks again!
