CirrostratusI don't think you can get any metrics from an iRule for throughput or load. I think your thought on using iControl to get this would be a good methodology. You could write an iControl app which dynamically changes the pool membership or adds a redirect rule to the VIP based on load.
If you get something working, I'm sure others here would be interested.
