Manipulate persistence table With Irule

Has anyone used irule to manage/manipulate persistence table? Need it to manage sessions if the back end is down, need to route it to specific failover group of servers.

Yes, I have priority groups but within the same group there is a need to associate servers for session handling. The session is only replicated to server pairs instead of all the servers. Also since we have active/active DC have used priority groups to route to the other datacenter in case DNS resolved incorrectly.
