Lync 2013 Edge Configuration
I followed the section on page 26 to manually setup the F5 to load balance the 2013 edge servers:
http://www.f5.com/pdf/deployment-gu...app-dg.pdf
For the internal interfaces it shows load balancing tcp/4443 and tcp/8057 but in the Mircosoft documentation ( http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/...s.14).aspx ) for firewall configuration it only shows opening these ports for the IP's of the Edge NIC's not for the F5 VIP that load balances it. If traffic can't reach the VIP there's nothing to load balance. Do these ports need to be opened for the VIP as well?

- mikeshimkus_111Historic F5 AccountHi Dan, in a typical deployment traffic will never be sent to those VIPs, only from FE/Client to Edge server directly. We had originally included them in the iApp and guide based on the Lync firewall requirements, but they are likely going to be removed in a future version.
thanks
Mike
