Apr 06, 2015The F5 can act as a L2 switch, but depending on the model this could cause high CPU utilization as on some models the L2 traffic is handled by TMM.

I don't know if you can get the traffic to pass through ASM rules though. However, even to begin to get this working, the Apache servers must be connected to one switch and the "farm of hosts" to a separate switch, and the ONLY common connection can be the F5.
