LTM and Link Controller path check question

First of all, i would like to apologize for my english.I have a couple questions about Path and link monitoring.

 

 

1. Why should i mark a Transparent to YES for icmp gateway monitor? Because i think it is enough that we use a alias address.

 

 

2. If we must select a Transparent to YES,what the different when we use it or not?

 

 

Could anyone please answer this topics to me?I always wonder about this.Thank you for your attention.

    Hi Surasej,

     

     

    Transparent means that you are monitoring *through* the device to another address, rather than just monitoring that address itself. In other words, if you want to monitor a firewall or router, it does you no good to ping the inside interface because that doesn't tell you anything about path availability. So you monitor through that device to something else.
