LTM and ASM Port Assignment

Hi everyone,

 

Full disclosure, I am a total newbie on F5, but I am working on a project that uses a F5 load-balancer and WAF. My question is: can I assign two ports on my F5 appliance to work as a WAF, and another two or more to work as a load-balancer? The idea is to offload the TLS decryption to an external appliance that will provide the WAF with clear text traffic. The decryption appliance will then re-encrypt the traffic coming out of the WAF, and send it back to the load-balancer.

    Bruno,

     

    A WAF policy is assigned to a virtual server. A virtual server is an IP:Port combination (other distinguishing factors possible too). So you can have the same IP address, but two different ports, and one can have a WAF policy and the other not.
