limiting broadband users

Hello,

I have several streaming virtual servers and also other services (http, ftp, smtp, etc) configured in my big-ips running 9.1.1 version.

Is there a way I can configure a rule to detect the connection type of my clients and apply a rate class according their type of connection?

That is, to detect the client with broadband connections and limit their rate in order to preserve my bandwidth for my other virtual servers.

I don't want to limit all my streaming traffic to a certain amount of traffic or rate, I want to limit only the high-speed connection clients so they use a limited rate.

Is it possible to do that with an irule/rate shaping ?

Regards,

Jose Santiago Oyervides.

I believe what you're looking for is the TCP::bandwidth command. - Click here

Keep in mind this is an estimate, and takes a few requests/responses to get more accurate estimates, so you'll want to code accordingly, but I think this should provide the general numbers you're looking for.
