Looking for installation documentation around the placement of load-balance servers. Can LBed servers be L3 (router-hop) away from the LTM?

In general, you can use the BIG-IP to load balance servers that aren't on the same physical segment. You'd just need to specify a route for the BIG-IP to use to get to the servers. You'd probably need to perform source address translation on the connections to the servers so the response gets back to the BIG-IP. Of course, the servers would need a route to the BIG-IP.
