is pycontrol slower than the perl API?

I hear ya, Jeremy. It's funny, but to me object-oriented Perl (a-la Damian Conway) is no more difficult to understand and write than Python. And the environment is noticeably faster in Perl, too, as you've discovered. Too bad everyone can't just get along...
