is BIG-IQ the correct approach for limited API access to F5 data ?
Other teams within our Company are starting to request access to the F5s. For example to grab pool/virtual server statistics. I will be honest, I've always been leery of anyone having direct access to our production LTMs for both security and availability reasons.
Is BIG IQ a good direction to set ?, I've been assuming we could have BIG-IQ act as an API proxy of sorts and we could limit what people could do.
Does anyone have a "Hello World" example of polling data from an LTM via BIG-IQ ? I've been fooling around with SoapUI but I'll be the first to admit I don't know what I'm doing with REST yet.

BIG-IQ will serve this purpose in the future, but it is currently light on stats for LTM objects.

You can see some sample scripts and API code for BIG-IQ here: https://devcentral.f5.com/big-iq

Becarefull as there was a splitt of feature between BIG-IQ CM 5.0 and Iworkflow 1.0. If you are looking for a rest proxy, this is not available anymore on BIG-IQ CM.
