Is APM the firepass replacement?
If so, will Linux guests be able to VPN connect?

Yes APM has effectively been adopted as the FirePass replacement.

it is with some exceptions, be sure to clearly detail what you use your firepass for before you get into APM.
for example web access to file shares is missing.
