Dec 12, 2008iRules not logging in LTM ????
Everyone......
Wonder if you have seen this and/or have a suggestion / fix for this.
I have a somewhat verbose logging rule that we use periodically to debug possible connection issues, etc......(Not really reinventing the wheel here, just logging particular fields, client_addr, server_addr etc.).
This has worked wonderfully in the past, but unfortunately when I go and add ANY iRules that include log local0. statement, nothing gets logged.
We have the default syslog-ng config. I'm not really all that familiar with tweaking it anyway.
Question: Anyone seen where the logging to LTM just seems to "quit"???
I'm just looking for some pointers as to where I might start debugging this issue......
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Happy Holidays,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
The only thing I can think of is to check if logging daemons are running (bigstart status). Maybe restart them by running bigstart restart syslog-ng or alertd would fix the problem.
If it's a production box, I'd open a case with F5 Support. If it's a dev box, you could take the shotgun approach and restart either syslog-ng, alertd or all daemons.

If you use the log local0 statement it means you should fill the /var/log/ltm file.
Can you check you still have logging information into your /var/log/ltm file ? if you don't see anything at all since a while it means your syslog-ng is probably messed up. If you still receive information in /var/log/ltm it is weird ... - Steve_Scott_873Historic F5 AccountWhat version are you on?
We had problems with an older version where the Syslogd would periodically die. All sorted in 9.4.4
