iRule to implement a different schema for Rate Shape

Hello everybody,

 

 

I'm beginning my road in iRule development and I received a request to implement Rate Shape in a different schema that the one implemented by BIG-IP.

 

 

There is a 10Mbps link and a priority Web Application. It is necessary that this Web Application uses always all available bandwidth of this link, if necessary.

 

 

For example: if all the other traffic is occupying 2Mbps in a certain moment and the Web Application needs less than 8Mbps, it will be provided all the necessary bandwith to this Web Application. However, if the Web Application needs more than 8Mbps, it will be provided just the 8Mbps available, because the other traffic can’t be injured. This control needs to be dynamic.

 

 

Does anybody have a clue?
