iRule Redirect from https:domainname.org to https://www.domainname.org

Hello, We have a UC cert for which we only set up a www.domainname.org and a subdomain.domainname.org. When people go to https://domainname.org they get a cert error. I tried creating an iRUle to redirect to https://www.domainname.org but that doesn't appear to be working. Not sure if I don't have it formatted properly or if it won't work based on the cert or how site is set up in IIS/SiteCore (and I don't know how to use either of those). Below is the iRule I configured and associated with my HTTPS virtual server object on the F5, but tests still result in the cert error.

when HTTP_REQUEST { if {[HTTP::host] equals "domainname.org" } { HTTP::redirect "https://www.domainname.org[HTTP::uri]" } }

Appreciate any assistance in advance.

Diane

  • In a nutshell, any HTTP host/path logic will only get evaluated AFTER the SSL handshake, so by the time your HTTP_REQUEST event is triggered, SSL has already happened. Your only option really is to get a cert that has all three host names in it (or three separate certs).
