Irule for RDP connection

Hello.

Looking for (health monitor) a way of our F5 big ip to test RDP 3389 before loading users to servers.

We have had a couple of issues at the moment with the server being up but unable to RDP to.

Spoken to F5 they advise there is nothing in place at the moment that can do this.

hopefully parked CR CR81332 - an MSRDP application layer health monitor” wont be parked for too much longer.

any help would be great.

Unfortunately the only way to really test this would be to create a connection that mimicked an RPD session, and I'm not sure that's doable via iRules at the moment. My RDP protocol foo isn't strong enough to devise a way, anyway. Given the limitations we have on forming new socket connections from within iRules, I'm not sure it's doable at the moment.

A monitor could conceivably do this if there were a way to script a connection that tested a login via the command line then automatically dumped the connection. I'd call it dicey at best, though. Monitoring the box's status or if a simple get request is returning valid data is easy enough, but simulating a full RDP login and getting a pass/fail is a little more complicated.
