Nimbostratusirule coding
Hello,
I would like to have or to know if F5 is providing any programmers manual for irules on F5. What language is being used and what could be a good programmer's reference book, URL, documentation?

Hi,
if you want documentation about irule coding, go to devcentral... 🙂
irule language is tcl but F5 added commands and variables.
most of commands are explained in the irule wiki (you can enter these two words in the search bar on the top of this page). if you go on wiki home page, there are some links for irule beginners.
if you use a unix system (linux, Mac OS X, F5, ...), you can start tcl shell
to validate commands (except irule special commands and variables)tcsh

Beside of the resources on DevCentral, the official TCL Manpage and also the TCL Wiki site does contain further (but non F5 releated) information on writing TCL. But keep in mind when viewing those site that F5 doesn't use the latest TCL version (e.g. v8.4.6 so far)

I would recommend Steven Iveson´s (aka 'What Lies Beneath') "An Introduction to F5 Networks LTM iRules" available as paperback and eBook.
