So the requirement to setup IP Intelligence updates requires DNS:
Clearly the appliance needs to be able to resolve the hostnames needed to connect to the servers to download the IPI Updates.
But what if the appliance is configured to utilise an internal DNS server (so it can resolve internal hosts) and that internal DNS server does not have the ability to resolve public entities.
Is there a list of hosts that an appliance needs to resolve to obtain IPI updates that could be built as hosts instead?

Based on the IP Intelligence slides from the v12.1 AFM training course, the hostname the F5 needs to resolve is vector.brightcloud.com, and connectivity to that host will be via TCP/443.
