1) As of now, latest maintenance release for 12.1.x branch is 12.1.2.

 

 

2) Afaik, yes. In 12.1.2 Release Notes, the Installation Checklist says "Ensure that your system is running version 10.1.0 or later and is using the volumes formatting scheme." You might also wanna pay attention to the list of known config-related issues during upgrade.

Of-course, you should be able to got for a direct upgrade from your current version to the latest version to 12.1.2

You are right,. for upgrade options, these are the new versions you can go for. not the upgrade path.. and for the second thing..

 

Look for this article : Installing a configuration when activating a boot location

 

 

When activating a boot location, if you want to install the configuration from a boot location other than the boot location being activated. you can select Yes and select a source

The stable version is 12.1.2 and you cna directly upgrade.
