Initial setup of Big IP DNS - and the 'run gtm_add command'
Hi all,
I'm reading about add Big IP DNS to an existing network with LTM.
Do I have this right please? I'm happy with what I read so far in regards to the Big IP DNS config, in terms of creating the DC, the Listeners and the Wide IP names. I'll re-read the docs but at a high level i'm happy with it. Slightly confused on the following
I have two DC in different locations US and Canada.
I have a single Big IP DNS in each location. We would like to have US to handle all DNS services and pass the traffic to the external facing LTM VIP. In case of a failure at this primary site we would resolve DNS queries to the Canada DC.
Do these two Big IP DNS devices need to be in a sync group? Is this done by running the run gtm_add command ? What is the difference?
Canada is going have its own listeners , if these devices are in a sync group won't the configuration is copied from one device to another ? I think I need to understand this what exactly is a sync group please & is this a requirement for my setup?
Many thanks

Just reading and some of the posts state that the listeners are sync and some that they are not.
It looks like the gtmip_add command is to add a new gtm to an existing sync group, is this correct? I was thinking it was to create a Active and standby Big IP DNS ??
