Inbound load balaning

Moin folk´s,

is it possible to write an iRule for an inbound load balaning? I want to use the BigIP to load balance a ressource on the same side a where my connections come from. Example:

External IP: 192.168.1.1

Internal IP: 192.168.2.1

1.) VS on the BigIP 192.168.1.10 (External)

2.) Connection from an Client to 192.168.1.10 Port 25

3.) BigIP acts as a simple router/proxy and make a connection to 192.168.x.y over the External interface

Is this possible?

Greetings,

Sure, you can do that if you configure a SNAT address on the external vlan and enable it on the virtual server.

That will translate the source address before forwarding to the real server, which in turn will force response traffic back to BIG-IP to reverse the destination translation that also takes place when load balancing.
