Apr 28, 2009Identical VLANs
Hi,
I was wondering if it's possible to configure multiple VLANs in a BigIP system to share the same subnet addresses?
Essentially I'm building an application test environment, such that there are multiple instances of an application cluster on separate VLANs. I'd like them to be in all aspects identical (same IPs, same gateway, etc). The only difference would be the virtual IP that the BigIP publishes.
Essentially this would mean needing to do two things.
1. Create VLANs with the same addresses (same self-ip, etc), just a different VLAN id.
2. Create virtual servers that forward to a pool of IP addresses in a specific VLAN.
The question is - can this be done with this device?
thanks,
chris

I don't believe v9 will allow you to share the identical subnet addressing scheme, while participating in it. However v10 allows you to do something pretty similar using route domains (Click here) - chris_15807

Ok - I thought it might not be possible (at least with 9.3.1 which is installed). I might look at upgrading to v10. I'm assuming the software updates are freely available and easy to install? - hoolio
