ICMP monitor on ADFS iAPP

Regarding the default monitor that is assigned to a node when setting up the ADFS iAPP.

 

Can I ask why this is ICMP and if this is good enough to ensure that traffic from the pool does not land on a node that is "up" but is unable to serve HTTPS requests? Would it not make more sense to have an HTTPS_443 check with the required GET statement for checking a node's health status if it is serving HTTPS requests?

 

We are consulting on this for a customer who are also doing some testing on their own lab - is it correct that changing the monitor for a node set up using an iApp requires strict updates to be turned off?
